Our Tiny Tales toddler classes in Chester offer engaging, literary and sensory experiences to toddlers. Many of our Tiny Talers joined as babies and progress into the toddler classes, but there are also plenty of toddlers who join us directly as well.
The sessions are led by an experienced former primary school teacher, weekly sessions run at Upton Pavilion and Hoole Community Centre in Chester and at the village hall in Saighton, by Huntington in Chester. There is also a venue in Hawarden in Flintshire, easily accessible from Chester. Our classes are aimed at a wide range of ages, from newborns through to toddler stage. We have welcomed babies from just five weeks of age, right up to age 3. Usually by the time our toddlers reach pre-school age (3 into 4), they have an amazing appetite for reading, ready to continue their learning at school.
Themed weekly sessions
Our classes vary greatly from week to week, inspired and centred around the weekly story. They may include sensory experiences, craft sessions or music and dance activities. They are always tailored to the weekly theme of the book. Your toddler will love engaging with the book, listening and dancing to the music and sounds, as well as getting to grips with the sensory experiences and the fun craft activities. There are songs and rhymes to join in with – usually a hit with both parents and the babies and toddlers.
Promoting early literacy
The philosophy of Tiny Tales is to make reading (and literacy) interesting from an as early an age as possible. Studies have shown that an early exposure to books and reading helps children develop a stronger interest in literacy as they grow older. I also know that as a mum myself, having a fun and social setting to which to bring my baby was incredibly important. All our sessions therefore finish with a cup of tea and coffee and a chance for everyone to catch up.
